Obtaining a boating licence means gaining access to a new freedom and enjoying the pleasures of boating on rivers, lakes or at sea. It allows you to pilot motorboats and guarantees safe, responsible driving.

Here are the licence categories:

• Coastal licence: Ideal for sailing at sea up to 6 miles from a shelter, this licence allows you to drive motorised pleasure craft with unlimited power.
• River licence (inland waters): Essential for navigating rivers, canals and lakes, this licence allows you to drive a boat with more than 6 horsepower and up to 20 metres in length.
• Offshore licence: An extension of the coastal licence, this allows you to sail beyond 6 miles from the coast.

The course combines theory and practice to prepare you effectively for the exam.

• Theory: Navigation, safety, buoyage and maritime regulations.
• Practice on the water: Manoeuvres, berthing and boat handling in real-life conditions.
• Final exam: A theory test in the form of multiple-choice questions and practical validation with an instructor.
