• In 1 hour, head upstream to discover the Plantagenet town, the Gallo-Roman wall and the gardens along the quays.
• In 2 hours, head downstream and pass through Les Planches lock. At the Moulin de Saint Georges, turn around and admire the Plantagenet town. Enjoy nature and discover the town in a different way.
• In 3 hours, pass through two locks and go deeper into the nature of the Sarthe, then return to see the Plantagenet town.
• In 4 hours, travel down the Sarthe to the Chaoué lock. For over 20 years, this magnificent place has won 1st prize for the most flowery lock! Enjoy a relaxing and peaceful experience along the Sarthe, discovering its flora and fauna.

What is a lock?
Think of it as a kind of boat lift that allows you to cross the water level variations of rivers thanks to a system of sluices.

When you arrive at the lock, you’ll be guided by a round coloured sign:

• Yellow: a lock keeper will accompany you,
• Blue: you go through the lock yourself,
• Red: the lock is closed and you need to turn around.

The passage takes around 15 minutes with a lock-keeper, or 30 minutes without one. Between 12.30pm and 2pm, you’ll have to do it alone, but don’t worry, you’ll be given a navigation guide to accompany you. A video explaining how to pass through a manual lock will also be shown to you before you leave by boat. Watch it now!

Remember to include the duration of the lock crossing in the itinerary you are going to book. Lock-breaking is only possible after a 2-hour trip. The presence of 2 able-bodied adults is compulsory.

Departure is from the Port of Le Mans, with a PRM space near the boarding pontoon.

Tours last 1 or 2 hours, with prices starting from €35.

From 12 April to mid-August, book your adventure on the Sarthe aboard our 7-seater electric boats without a licence, departing from the Port of Le Mans.

We are open :

• In May and June: Wednesdays from 11am to 6pm, Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays from 11am to 7pm
• In July and August, rental will be open every day: Monday to Friday from 11am to 6pm and Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays from 11am to 7pm
• This year, the season will end on 11 August due to water harvesting.
